Carl Cox offered fans a glimpse into his personal record collection ahead of a special back-to-back performance with Louie Vega at [UNVRS] Ibiza on 13 September.
The legendary British DJ and producer revealed a selection of his favourite disco records, highlighting the soulful, groove-driven sounds that continue to influence his approach to electronic music.

“I’m switching things up tonight, digging deep into the collection and pulling out some of my all-time favourite disco records for a very special B2B with Louie Vega,” Cox wrote on Instagram.
In the accompanying video, the artist spotlighted four vintage disco records, including Ashford & Simpson’s 1977 track “Don’t Cost You Nothin’” and Patrice Rushen’s iconic “Forget Me Nots.”
The selection reflected Cox’s deep appreciation for the foundations of dance music, moving away from the heavier house and techno sounds often associated with his sets and towards the warmth, rhythm and musicianship of classic disco.
A Disco-Focused Night at [UNVRS]
Cox’s meeting with Louie Vega formed part of a special disco-focused edition of his Sunday residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza.
The main room lineup also featured DJ Tennis, Dimitri From Paris and Souldynamic, while Melon Bomb appeared in the Wild Comet room. The event was announced as a first-of-its-kind B2B between Cox and Vega, bringing together two influential figures with extensive knowledge of house, disco and club culture.
Cox’s residency has already welcomed a wide range of guests, including Joseph Capriati, David Guetta, The Martinez Brothers, Chris Stussy, Dennis Cruz, Nicole Moudaber and WhoMadeWho.
Carl Cox’s Ibiza Residency Continues
The 2026 residency runs every Sunday at [UNVRS] from 21 June until 4 October. The season will close with an all-night-long performance from Carl Cox, giving the veteran selector complete control of the final night.
The residency has become one of the defining Sunday events on the Ibiza calendar, combining Cox’s broad musical range with a carefully selected roster of special guests and unexpected collaborations.
Beyond the dancefloor, 2026 has also been an important year for Cox. Earlier this year, the Oldham-born artist was awarded an OBE for services to music in the King’s Birthday Honours.
He also visited King Charles at Buckingham Palace for an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust, formerly known as The Prince’s Trust. Cox was supported by the organisation as a young artist at the age of 24.
Ranked No. 25 in DJ Mag’s 2025 Top 100 DJs poll, Cox continues to demonstrate why his influence extends across generations and genres.
His latest disco showcase is another reminder that, for Carl Cox, the foundations of a great dancefloor can be found in far more than one sound.
