Deezer has become the latest music streaming platform to integrate with TikTok’s ‘Add to Music App’ feature, enabling users to save songs discovered on TikTok directly to their Deezer accounts. This feature streamlines music discovery, bridging the gap between social media and music streaming.
A Growing Network of Partners
Since its launch in November 2023, TikTok’s ‘Add to Music App’ feature has steadily expanded. Initially available in the US and UK with Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music, it has since grown to include more platforms and regions, such as South Korea’s Melon in October. Deezer’s integration further strengthens this network.
TikTok’s Shift in Music Strategy
TikTok is pivoting its music strategy by prioritizing partnerships with external streaming services over its standalone TikTok Music service. On November 28, the company will shut down TikTok Music in Indonesia, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, and Mexico, reallocating resources to features like ‘Add to Music App’ to boost music consumption on partner platforms.
What Deezer Brings to the Table
With Deezer now integrated, TikTok users can save songs to their Deezer accounts with a single click using the ‘Add Song’ button. After the first use, Deezer becomes the default option for all future saves. The feature works across TikTok’s For You Feed and artist Sound Detail Pages, enhancing the transition from discovery to playback.
Industry Impact
Michael Kümmerle, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Partnership Development, shared, “Add to Music App has already driven hundreds of millions of track saves and billions of streams on music services.”
Matthieu Gorvan, Deezer’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, added, “Discovering a new favorite song is a magical moment. By integrating with TikTok, we make it effortless for fans to save and explore music, turning fleeting discoveries into lasting connections.”
This partnership benefits music fans by simplifying their experience and offers artists broader exposure, marking a significant step in connecting social media with music streaming.
