SoundCloud’s latest data reveals a fascinating trend: fans of electronic music are the platform’s most engaged and dedicated community worldwide. Released during this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), SoundCloud’s findings show that electronic music listeners outshine other genre communities, displaying remarkable engagement levels that help define the platform’s future.
In a panel titled “Essential Insider Knowledge” at ADE, SoundCloud CEO Eliah Seton and house music producer Mau P shared these insights, showcasing the impact electronic music fans have on the platform. The data reveals that electronic music fans are 104% more likely to share content, 85% more likely to repost, and 52% more likely to comment than fans of other genres, underscoring the community’s unique role in shaping SoundCloud’s culture.
These revelations are a significant milestone for SoundCloud, which was on the edge of bankruptcy nearly a decade ago. In 2017, the platform barely avoided collapse after securing $169.5 million in emergency funding, with layoffs and office closures looming as it struggled to monetize its vast user base. Today, however, SoundCloud has found renewed strength, with its thriving electronic music culture playing a pivotal role in the platform’s resurgence. Through continued support for artist creativity and fan interaction, SoundCloud is redefining its place in the digital music world, powered by the dedication of electronic music enthusiasts.
