Amnesia Ibiza, one of the world’s most iconic nightclubs, has unveiled a groundbreaking upgrade to its legendary sound system. We spoke with KV2 Audio, the team behind the ambitious project, whose work was hailed as “pure perfection” by Amnesia owner Martín Ferrer Vega.
A Summer of Audio Engineering Excellence
Since opening in 1976, Amnesia has been at the forefront of Ibiza nightlife, witnessing countless musical milestones. As the club approaches its 50th anniversary in 2026, this summer marked a pivotal moment: a complete overhaul of its Terrace sound system.
KV2 Audio, fresh from rebuilding Amnesia’s Main Room in 2022, took on the challenge of redesigning the Terrace. Their mission was clear: deliver flawless, world-class sound across the entire space. The solution included a sophisticated combination of wide-dispersion loudspeakers, mid-bass units, amplifiers, and subwoofers powerful enough to register on seismographs.
“A 50-year legacy puts Amnesia on a truly global stage, so ‘good enough’ wasn’t an option,” KV2 explains.
Architectural and Acoustic Challenges
Redesigning the Terrace required more than technical expertise—it demanded architectural ingenuity. Every surface reflects sound differently, and every corner presented its own acoustic puzzle. KV2 engineers ensured that whether clubbers are near the DJ booth or at the bar, the sound remains crystal-clear and perfectly balanced.
“[The Terrace] is huge, roofed with glass, and packed with 4,000 people at sunrise. Acoustically, it’s a challenge,” says KV2.
“Our solution—SL412 loudspeakers, VHD mid-bass units, and 16 VHD2.18J subs—delivers full coverage without distortion. Even the bar and VIP areas have perfectly tuned systems.”
Music in Its Purest Form
Longtime Amnesia resident DJ CAAL describes the new system as delivering “music in its purest state.” Behind the poetic phrasing lies serious engineering innovation: KV2’s proprietary Super Live Audio (SLA) technology ensures ultra-low distortion and high sampling frequencies, letting guests dance all night without compromising sound quality.
Visiting in July during Ibiza’s peak season, our team experienced the Terrace’s ocean-deep sound firsthand. CAAL confirmed he had never been more excited to perform there.
Precision Monitoring for DJs
KV2 designed the system for maximum flexibility, ensuring DJs hear exactly what the crowd experiences. Reference-quality monitoring from ESD312s and ESR units allows artists to mix with audiophile precision, no matter the booth position or performance style.
“No matter what headlining talent you have, if you can’t hear their music the right way, it won’t be worth it,” says Stéphane Schweitzer, Amnesia partner.
Owner Martín Ferrer Vega simply calls it “pure perfection.”
Closing Out Ibiza 2025 in Style
As Ibiza’s 2025 season reaches its peak, Amnesia gears up for a massive two-day closing party on October 10-11, featuring Amelie Lens, Deborah De Luca, Nina Kraviz, 999999999, Ben Hemsley, and more. Tickets are available on the club’s website.
