SOPHIE Scholarship Fund Launched to Support Women, Trans, and Non-Binary Music Students

Honouring the Legacy of Electronic Pioneer SOPHIE

A new scholarship fund has been established in the United States to support women, trans, and non-binary students pursuing careers in music production and audio engineering. The SOPHIE Scholarship Fund, created in memory of the visionary electronic artist SOPHIE, aims to foster inclusivity and close the gender gap in the recording industry.

A Powerful Collaboration to Uplift Future Creators

Developed in partnership with the nonprofit organization We Are Moving The Needle, the fund offers financial support to college students studying audio-related fields. Eligible applicants can receive grants of $5,000 or $10,000 to assist with tuition, course materials, and other study-related expenses.

In a public statement, We Are Moving The Needle emphasized SOPHIE’s lasting influence on the global music community:

“SOPHIE’s legacy is a beacon of inspiration to countless creators, and her innovations continue to shape the future of music. We are thrilled to celebrate her indelible mark as it lives on in the next generation of trailblazers.”

Continuing SOPHIE’s Vision for the Future of Music

The announcement was also shared on SOPHIE’s official Instagram account:

“Alongside We Are Moving The Needle, we are proud to announce this scholarship fund in Sophie’s name. Sophie was passionate about the future of music, and, just like she did, we can’t wait to see many more women, trans, and non-binary creators change the game.”

The SOPHIE Scholarship Fund not only honours the artist’s groundbreaking work in experimental pop and electronic music but also empowers underrepresented voices to follow in her footsteps.
