Fatia
FATIA’s story is one of deep roots and fearless evolution. Born to a Moroccan Amazigh father from the High Atlas Mountains and a Belgian mother, she grew up surrounded by a blend of cultures that would later define her unique sound. Starting out in the early 90s as a singer and DJ on vinyl decks, FATIA explored multiple genres under different alter egos. But it was in 2020, during a global pause, that she returned to the sounds of her youth — traditional Amazigh music. That moment reignited her artistic mission: to keep her heritage alive through music, henna, and performance.
With her latest release Asgwas on Cafe De Anatolia, FATIA channels transformation, celebration, and connection. In Amazigh culture, “Asgwas” means “year,” and for FATIA, 2025 marks a year of creativity, growth, and self-discovery. The track blends live trumpets by Belgian musician Sam Vloemans, Tachelhit vocals, and a pulsating mix of organic house, ethnic, and progressive grooves. The result is an uplifting, open, and festival-ready anthem that bridges cultures while moving bodies from dusk till dawn.
What sets FATIA apart is her fearless fusion: Western dance beats intertwined with oriental and tribal elements, Afro House rhythms, and the emotional resonance of live instruments. For her, every performance is a ceremony — a celebration of togetherness, hope, and joy. “I never know what I’ll play in advance,” she says. “I just connect with the crowd and let the energy flow.”
Her collaboration with Café De Anatolia has been a milestone. “When I discovered their YouTube channel and playlists, I felt at home,” FATIA explains. “Signing with them was a dream come true, and now it feels like another celebration in my journey.”
This summer, FATIA brings her sound to major stages, including Thé Dansant in Tienen (24 August), Vision Room at Mons Beffroi UNESCO site (30 August), and her birthday celebration Heart Beat Rites in Aalst (7 September). With Asgwas, she not only honors her Amazigh roots but also sets the tone for a year of powerful music and unforgettable moments.
FATIA is more than an artist — she’s a storyteller, a bridge between tradition and the dancefloor, and a force of cultural celebration in today’s electronic scene.
